Mrs. Tefft

Allow me to introduce myself...

I am excited to begin my 15h year at Stamford Central School.  This year I will be teaching 5th and 6th grade ELA and Social Studies.   I am so excited to work with my students from last year who will now be in 6th grade with me.  Furthermore I look forward to getting to know all of my new 5th graders.

I am a graduate of Schenevus Central School.  I received my education degree at The College of Saint Rose.  Since my husband was in the Navy, I moved to Virginia and began teaching in 1991 in Norfolk, Virginia.  I taught pre-k, 6th grade, and 5th grade in Virginia.  My husband was in the Navy for 20 years until he retired in 2005.  We have three girls.  First, there is Megan who just started her 1st year as a teacher teaching 3rd grade in Letchworth, NY.  We are so proud of her.  Next, there is Dani who is in her fourth year of college at SUNY Brockport.  Dani had to have some pretty big knee surgery last summer.  She was the first one in upstate New York to ever have the surgery.  She was even interviewed about it for the news.   Finally, there is Mimi who is studying Biology at SUNY Oneonta.  She loves animals.  I also have a bunch of fish and two dogs, Shea and Brutus.   Shea, our chocolate lab, is twelve years old, and Brutus, our black lab, is five.

I didn't do too much traveling this summer.  I did go to Manhattan.  I took the train which ran right along the Hudson River.  Then I went to Boston for a conference with many teachers from Stamford.  It was fun and very rewarding.  I read a few good books this summer.  My favorite this summer was My Grandmother Told Me to Tell You She was Sorry  and A Corner of the Universe
